Hubballi: Two Women, Railway Staff Arrested for Stealing Two-Wheelers with Fake Keys
Hubballi: The Vidyanagar police have arrested five individuals, including two women and two railway employees, for stealing two-wheelers from public places. The police have seized 12 two-wheelers, valued at approximately ₹6.4 lakh, from the accused.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Reshma Gudageri from Keshwapur, Ravi alias Nilesh Banassode from Ramanagara, Asma Banu Bagwan from Gadag Road, Mubarak Bagwan, and Dastagir Dharwad from K.K. Nagar. Notably, Reshma was directly involved in stealing the two-wheelers herself.
Among the primary accused, Asma Banu and Mubarak are railway employees. The police have solved seven bike lifting cases registered at the Vidyanagar police station of them six were stolen from the KIMS premises. Three were from Keshwapur, and one each from Hubballi suburban and Dharwad city police station.
Reshma reportedly stole vehicles parked in crowded areas, such as KIMS Hospital, using duplicate keys. Asma Banu and Mubarak would then sell the stolen vehicles using fake number plates and without proper documentation, claiming financial difficulties as the reason. Ravi and Reshma were apprehended near the back of KIMS Hospital after being caught on CCTV footage. During interrogation, they confessed to the involvement of three others, who were later arrested and produced before the court, according to Police Commissioner N Shashikumar.
The operation was led by Vidyanagar Police Inspector Jayant Gauli, along with PSIs Bhimanna Satannavar and Shrimant Hunasikatti.
